Tattooed Bride: New Intern Blogger Alisha Lovely

So after a year or more of being a little side project of Allebach Photography, Tattooed Bride is branching off into a real frequently updated alternative wedding blog.  We brought a new intern on board Alisha Lovely.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in a suburb of Seattle, but I grew up in a little logging town about an hour and a half south of there. I spent a lot of time in the woods, in trees, and in Olympia, Washington. And I guess I still do.

Have you always been interested in alternative weddings?
Yes. As a kid, while my best friend looked at wedding magazines and drooled over huge, white dresses, I pouted and proclaimed that I hated weddings. Eventually, I realized it wasn't weddings that I hated, it was the mainstream concept of weddings and the pressure to follow the "rules" about what a wedding should be like. Once I saw that a wedding didn't have to mean a princess dress, horrible music, and massive amounts of expenses I got a little obsessed with searching out alternative weddings and alternative wedding ideas, which has worked out well for me so far.

What is your favorite band?
This is an unanswerable question for me. I listen to way too many kinds of music to pick an all time favorite, but I could probably do a current top five. In no particular order:
1. Tegan and Sara
2. Flogging Molly
3. Lower Lights Burning
4. The Format
5. CocoRosie

Is there a trend in weddings that you are really excited about? Why?
The declining pressure to have a diamond engagement ring is awesome. I’m wary of the diamond business, in general, and a huge diamond is definitely not my style. I have been really into hearing about other people’s alternatives to diamond rings and what materials and metals they are using. I also love all the creativity and DIY aspects that are visible in more and more modern weddings.

What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy writing, cooking, most forms of dance, going to shows, being outside, and driving around exploring. I also have recently become really interested in managing money and finances, which is probably an extremely boring hobby that I shouldn't tell people about.

Can you list some favorite things for us?
1965 Ford Mustangs, the smell of old books, pasta, the color yellow, old buildings, lace, the month of September, and impromptu dancing.

If you were stuck on a desert island would you rather be with Justin Bieber or Carrot Top?
I think I would actually have to pick Justin Bieber. As much as I can’t stand that Bieber kid, I feel like I could probably scare him into silence with a couple harsh words and a well-executed glare.
