Tattoos at weddings Guest Blogged by Tattoo Fashion
For many tattooed brides and grooms to be, the challenge of what to do with their tattoos on their wedding day can be a real headache. The opinions of close friends and family are usually not a problem, as they know the couple best and love them for who they are. Elderly relatives on the other hand, can really disapprove of tattoos, especially if they’re on show during the big day. You can cover them up, with clothes or make up. Edit them from your wedding photos, or even host your elderly relatives so well (read: get them really drunk) that they forget about your tattoos all together!
These solutions might sound convenient; but when you really think about it, they are pretty disconcerting (or even irresponsible!). At Tattoo Fashion, we believe your tattoos show the world part of who you really are and what better day to celebrate your identity, than your wedding day?
Instead of taking the conservative route by minimizing the impact of your body art, we believe you should show off your tattoos. We know couples who felt their wedding day was compromised because they were so worried about keeping their tattoos under wraps. The majority of people, including even the most tattoo-disapproving elderly relatives, would surely agree that your wedding day should be the happiest day of your life. So it’s utterly ridiculous to let anything, or anyone, bring you down on this unique and fabulous occasion.
In contrast to couples who have tried a mixture of methods to cover up their tattoos, ranging from the uncomfortable to the truly bizarre, the newly weds we know who displayed their tattoos on the big day, said they had a much happier and relaxed experience; even the ones who were previously worried about the reaction they would get!
Offering advice like this on the Tattooed Bride blog might seem inappropriate, as we’re surly preaching to the converted. At Tattoo Fashion we are as passionate about creativity and individuality as you are. We believe it’s important to make sure you are proud of who you are and what you stand for. As we mentioned at the start this post, your tattoos are a huge part of this – so show them off with pride and of course, most importantly; enjoy your big day!
