Destination weddings work very well for some people. I always imagined a destination wedding to be harder to plan and much more expensive, but that's not always the case. Destination weddings don't have to be tricky to plan and have some great benefits of their own.
One advantage of destination weddings are that you can go somewhere you've always wanted to go. You can have your wedding in South Africa, The Bahamas, Norway, or wherever you want to. Plus you can have an immediate honeymoon and just stay longer in that location instead of dealing with a plane ride or car drive the day after your wedding.
Also, having your wedding in a far away place can help you save money by trimming down the guest list. It's much easier to explain to people that you can only invite family and close friends when you're traveling for the wedding instead of having it nearby to where you live. Trimming down the guest list by being able to cut out acquaintances and those distant relatives that you've never even met can help you save money on other costs related to the number of guests you invite, like catering and decorating.
Plus, speaking of decorating, if you're having a wedding of a certain theme that is related to a culture or country, having the wedding in the corresponding country would make it ten times more awesome. And if you're planning to have your wedding in your own heritage's country that would also make for a really cool experience.
If you are thinking of getting married in a tropical or resort location, you may find that planning could be very simple because you can take advantage of all-inclusive wedding packages that some hotels and locations offer. These can be a lot cheaper than you imagine if you don't mind skipping out on the ever popular weekend wedding and choose to get married on a weekday, which tends to cut costs.
You don't have to take advantage of packages, though. You can still plan every detail by yourself and have a destination wedding. There are many different ways to make this option work for an alternative bride and whatever route you choose is almost guaranteed to work amazingly when you're in such an awesome location.
