What time is wedding time?

Most weddings tend to happen in the later part of the day. There's something about partying into the wee hours of the morning that just says, "Wedding!" to people. This doesn't have to be the case, though. You don't have to have an afternoon or evening wedding if it's not your style. Different types of weddings call for different times.
Though it's more uncommon, some people do better having a morning wedding. Morning weddings are awesome if you're planning to not have alcohol at your wedding. Not as many people will assume it will be there, and there won't be a fuss if you or your partner don't drink and would feel better not serving alcohol. And even if you are planning to have an open bar (mimosas, anyone?) and a full breakfast at your morning wedding, it will probably end up being cheaper than a open bar and full dinner would be. Morning weddings also tend to be more low-key and intimate. Not too many people get wild and crazy at nine in the morning. Another great thing about morning weddings is that you usually can line up the date, location, and vendors more easily because you won't be competing for the usual wedding time slot. Plus, if you're not planning on having a traditional wedding starting it all off with an untraditional time makes it pretty clear that your wedding is going to be different.
There is nothing wrong with an afternoon or evening wedding, though. Later weddings, especially those that are in the evening, make it easier if you're planning to have a wedding were children aren't invited. Also, if your wedding is more centered around exciting events like dancing, toasting, and having a general good time it's better to have a later wedding. What's better than dancing under the stars at an evening outdoor wedding? Not too much. Plus, you can usually get away with drawing things out or having a longer wedding and reception with a later wedding because there usually isn't another event after yours. With a morning wedding you might end up with a stricter time slot and have to be out of the venue at a certain time.
Whether you choose a morning wedding, an afternoon wedding, or a late evening wedding this doesn't mean you have to follow the general wedding itinerary. As an alternative bride, you probably already know you can do whatever you want at your wedding regardless of the time you choose to have your wedding. Some things are easier to execute at different times of the day, though, so just keep that in mind while planning your wedding.
